Project Overview
I collaborated with the author of an accepted chemistry publication to conceptualize, design, and produce cover art for the journal Organometallics. I translated complex scientific concepts including catalyst design, intricate molecular structures, and abstract mechanistic ideas into a cohesive and visually engaging artistic concept. Working closely with the author, I had to ensure that the chemical structures and scientific details were accurately represented while transforming the technical content into an accessible visual metaphor. The final artwork balanced scientific precision with creativity and visual impact, effectively communicating the central themes of the research in a compelling format suitable for a scientific journal cover.
This project required me to work within the constraints of how chemistry is expressed. There is little room for creative freedom when the chemical structures have to be accurate, so found small ways around the rigidity, such as choosing a different font for the chemical symbols, and changing the color of the text to use color to my advantage.
